Sustanon FAQ

What is Sustanon?

Sustanon is an injectable anabolic and androgenic steroid (AAS), containing a blend of four testosterone esters. Sustanon 250 is the first and most popular mixture of testosterone esters, but there could be numerous other brand names of testosterone esters. Moreover, the original mix of testosterone esters contains four testosterone offering 250 mg/ml. Nonetheless, there are various other testosterone mixtures offering different testosterones, different amounts of testosterones, and/or different concentrations. Nevertheless, the original Sustanon 250 (by Organon) is a blend as follows: 30 mg testosterone propionate, 60 mg testosterone phenylpropionate, 60 mg testosterone isocaproate, and 100 mg testosterone decanoate, cumulatively making 250 mg per 1 ml of these testosterone esters. In short, it is basically testosterone (administered by intramuscular injection). But the different testosterone esters provide different elimination half-lives in the body. That’s why it is a compound used for boosting test levels.

How often to inject Sustanon 250?

Considering that Sustanon 250 contains different esters of testosterone, it will have different elimination half-lives in the body. There are short esters such as Propionate or Phenylpropionate with fast release, and longer ones such as Isocaproate or especially Decanoate with a slow release. That’s why standard treatment in medical settings is just one injection every 3 weeks. But it may vary from one injection once every 1-4 weeks. Nonetheless, I do not recommend such an injection frequency because it won’t be enough to maintain optimal levels of testosterone in the blood. Especially due to shorter esters. I strongly recommend injecting Sustanon 250 at least twice a week. Whereas some suggest that once a week may be enough, the shorter esters are long gone by the end of one week. That’s why they are evenly spaced twice a week. Some people use it even more frequently, like once every 2-3 days.

How long does Sustanon stay in your system?

Sustanon is a blend of four testosterone esters that contains short esters, and long esters. This means that by the time the longest ester will fully release the testosterone in the system, the rest will be already gone for a while. Therefore, to determine how long it stays in your system, you need to check the longest ester, which is Decanoate. Testosterone Decanoate half life is longer than that of Enanthate and Cypionate, of about 15 days or so. This means that it will stay in your system for quite a long time. Therefore, it means that this steroid can stay in your system for approximately 30 days. Nevertheless, it doesn’t mean that the product will be effective for this long. Very low release and lower dosage makes it ineffective by that time. Yet, the detection time on anti-doping tests is longer, due to metabolites that stay in the system.

How often to inject Sustanon 250 bodybuilding?

While medical settings indicate that Sustanon 250 can be injected only once every 1-4 weeks, this schedule is not going to be enough for bodybuilding purposes. You will need to inject Sustanon 250 for bodybuilding much more frequently. This way you make sure to maintain stable levels of testosterone in the bloodstream, and this way you get optimal results for bodybuilding purposes such as muscle growth, strength gains and so on. Due to the shorter testosterone esters in Sustanon 250, the testosterone propionate and phenylpropionate, I recommend injecting it at least two times a week, evenly apart (such as 3-4 days) for bodybuilding purposes. The longer esters will offer more stable levels. However, it is due to these two short esters in Sustanon that some bodybuilders tend to inject it even more frequently than that, such as every other day or so. 1-3 times a week is good enough.

Is Sustanon good for TRT?

Yes, Sustanon is a good compound for TRT purposes. It contains four testosterone esters that will release testosterone at different times. Therefore, it will help both boost testosterone levels fast, and keep them stable for longer periods. In fact, Sustanon 250 is the preferred prescribed testosterone version in the UK for TRT purposes. In the end, whether Sustanon is better for TRT or not is just a matter of preference. Some may love it more than other testosterone versions, but other people may love other testosterone versions (such as Testosterone Enanthate or Cypionate) for TRT/cruise purposes, or for cycle needs. Generally, Sustanon is good for TRT (cruise) and for cycle needs (it does a good job at boosting testosterone levels). But whether it is better or not than the popular single ester preparation is a matter of individual preference.

Is Sustanon testosterone?

Yes, Sustanon is basically testosterone. Sustanon is just the brand name of a mixture of four testosterone esters: Testosterone propionate, phenylpropionate, isocaproate, and decanoate. The ester only delays the release time of the compound (testosterone) after administration (via intramuscular injection). The ester will only prolong the half-life, meaning that different esters will offer different half-lives of the testosterone. Esters do not change the way the main compound works. Having this said, Sustanon is basically testosterone, offering no different effects and results than single-ester testosterone versions. What may vary from one testosterone version to another is the concentration of testosterone per ml, and the release time (half life). You need to adjust the amount you use (dosage) and frequency of injection according to these. Other than that, testosterone works the same regardless of the ester.

Can I take Sustanon 250 alone?

Yes, you can take Sustanon 250 alone, unlike most other anabolic steroids on the market. That’s because Sustanon 250 is basically testosterone and testosterone is the only anabolic steroid that can be taken alone. The reason is very simple: all anabolic and androgenic steroids (including testosterone) will suppress natural production of the testosterone hormone. But testosterone steroid is the only one that replenishes this hormone’s levels in your bloodstream, working as a testosterone replacement. Other steroids just lower testosterone levels, and if you do not stack them with some form of testosterone, you may experience low testosterone levels, which comes with various nasty symptoms that will work against your goals. Since Sustanon 250 is testosterone, you can take it alone if necessary. Or may be used as a form of base in a steroid cycle to keep testosterone levels optimal during the cycle.

Can Sustanon cause erectile dysfunction?

Sustanon is basically testosterone, meaning that using Sustanon, you increase total testosterone levels in your bloodstream. Testosterone is an extremely important hormone for males for an erection. Without enough of this hormone, erectile dysfunction is almost guaranteed. Having this said, men with low testosterone levels are very likely to experience erectile dysfunction and other sexual dysfunctions. By using Sustanon, testosterone levels increase, and therefore, all these issues disappear. So, it actually helps fight off erectile dysfunction. On the other hand, increasing testosterone exogenously may suppress endogenous (natural) testosterone production. Therefore, when you stop Sustanon use, your T levels may be low (as you don’t get testosterone naturally and don’t get it from injections), which may cause erectile dysfunction. High dosage also may cause erectile dysfunction because our bodies convert testosterone into estrogen. Higher estrogen causes erectile dysfunction. High doses lead to high testosterone, therefore, high conversion into estrogen.

Can you inject Sustanon subcutaneous?

While you can, I wouldn’t. Intramuscular injections remain the preferable method to inject testosterone over subcutaneous methods for various reasons. For example, subcutaneous injection may lead to poorer absorption of the compound by the body, which may make it less effective compared to intramuscular injection. But even if the absorption rate doesn’t change, the compound remains equally effective, Sustanon (and other anabolic steroids) usually have more irritating preservatives. This can make a subcutaneous injection more painful compared to an intramuscular injection. Redness, swelling, infection, and pain at the injection site are more likely to occur with a subcutaneous injection, rather than an intramuscular one.

Does Sustanon 250 build muscle?

Yes, Sustanon 250 does help you build muscle. This is because Sustanon 250 offers 250 mg/ml of testosterone. As it helps increase total testosterone hormone levels in the bloodstream, it is highly effective at building muscle mass, because there’s a direct relationship between the testosterone levels and muscle building ability of a man. Males with higher testosterone levels find it much easier and faster to build muscle. Whereas males with lower than normal levels of testosterone (hypogonadism) find it almost impossible to build muscle, regardless of their diet and workout plan. Since Sustanon 250 increases testosterone levels, you can expect to build muscle mass. Men suffering from low testosterone suggest they manage to build muscle from using Sustanon even without diet and workout. Nonetheless, diet and workout are essential if muscle building is your goal when using Sustanon.

Does Sustanon cause hair loss?

Sustanon is basically testosterone, meaning that using it will increase testosterone levels. Yet, higher testosterone levels are sometimes associated with hair loss because of dihydrotestosterone – a hormone that a part of testosterone converts into. Dihydrotestosterone is considered the enemy of scalp hair. That’s why males with higher DHT levels are associated with hair loss. Therefore, higher testosterone usually leads to hair loss. Since Sustanon increases T levels, yes, it may cause hair loss. However, it is important to understand that there are other factors that play a role too. Genetics is the most important one. Males without genetic predisposition to male pattern baldness (hair loss) are unlikely to experience it from using Sustanon. Whereas males with this genetic trait are likely to experience it even without the use of testosterone, such as Sustanon or any other steroids. Truth is that steroids may aggravate/speed it up.

Does Sustanon cause water retention?

Sustanon may cause water retention because a part of the testosterone that you get from using it will convert into estrogen. Higher estrogen levels can lead to water retention. But higher estrogen levels usually happen when you use higher doses of Sustanon, leading to higher testosterone levels in the body, which converts into too much estrogen. That’s why usually higher doses can cause water retention, while lower doses do not cause it. Nevertheless, it is extremely important to be aware that water retention can be a result of numerous other factors such as diet, workout plan, stress and so on. Moreover, the conversion of testosterone to estrogen is very different from one person to another. If you experience water retention, you may need to adjust dosage and/or your diet, among other factors.

Does Sustanon increase sperm count?

It is highly unlikely for Sustanon to increase sperm count. In fact, it may actually lower it. Sustanon increases testosterone in the bloodstream. Your body is smart enough to detect it, and therefore it stops producing testosterone on its own (in an attempt to avoid an overflow of testosterone). Most testosterone is produced in the testicles. Testosterone levels in testicles are way more important than testosterone levels in the bloodstream when talking about sperm count and quality. That’s why using steroids usually causes a decrease in sperm count.

How long does it take for Sustanon 250 to work?

Sustanon 250 has a blend of four testosterone esters, some of which are short acting while others are long acting. Therefore, it will both stay in the system for a long time after administration and kick in (start working) pretty fast. It takes about 2 weeks of use for you to feel it working, and about 4-6 weeks of use for it to fully kick in the system. How long it would take for Sustanon to kick in and start working depends on your diet, workout plan, lifestyle choices, dosage and other factors.
