Aromasin is a steroidal aromatase inhibitor (AI). The active substance is Exemestane and is working in similar ways to other aromatase inhibitors such as Arimidex (Anastrozole) and Femara (Letrozole). However, Aromasin is a suicidal (steroidal) aromatase inhibitor, which means that as soon as it binds to aromatase enzymes, it permanently disables them.
That’s the main difference between Exemestane and other aromatase inhibitors.
In the end, all AIs are binding to aromatase enzymes, inhibiting the process of aromatization. This lowers the total serum estrogen levels in the body. But Aromasin is going to prevent the currently bound enzymes from rebounding again. This is what makes it different from Arimidex and Femara.Â
By using other AIs, they are temporarily lowering estrogen from aromatizing. But when you stop using them, they can cause estrogen rebound. This means that there’s a chance to experience a spike in estrogen after stopping their use. This won’t happen with Exemestane, however, since it’s suicidal and disables the enzymes permanently.
This is highly effective for those who are using cycle lengths longer than 10-12 weeks.
Aromasin For Bodybuilders
Aromasin (Exemestane) is actually an anti-cancer drug and many people wonder: are bodybuilders actually using anti-cancer drugs for their needs? Yes, they do. That’s because Exemestane is a product that is lowering total estrogen levels in the body. When females develop hormonally positive breast cancer (estrogen causes them to form and grow) they use Exemestane to lower estrogen and deal with cancer.
Bodybuilders, however, use anabolic steroids to grow muscles and gain strength. But there are certain anabolic steroids such as testosterone, nandrolone, boldenone and dianabol for example that are also converting into estrogen in the body. By using these steroids, they help reach physique and performance enhancement goals, but they increase estrogen thus leading to high estrogen symptoms. Those are anabolic steroids side effects.
- The high estrogen levels in males are leading to such side effects as gynecomastia, water retention, high blood pressure, erectile dysfunction, and many others.Â
Therefore, Aromasin (Exemestane) and other Aromatase Inhibitors like Arimidex (Anastrozole) and Femara (Letrozole) have become extremely important tools in dealing with anabolic steroids side effects. They are lowering total estrogen levels, therefore eliminating/ reducing side effects associated with high estrogen caused by AAS.
Aromasin vs Arimidex vs Femara
As I said, the biggest advantage of Exemestane over the other two is the fact that it prevents any estrogen rebound because it permanently disables the aromatase enzyme. That’s something that Anastrozole or Letrozole cannot.
Arimidex is easier to control in the short term. So cycles under 8 weeks are better with it. But when you need to protect yourself against high estrogen long term, Aromasin is a better option.
Moreover, Letrozole (Letro) is even more powerful than Exemestane. The problem is that it can be way too strong and too harsh for most people. That’s why with Letrozole you could easily inhibit way too much estrogen causing side effects.
Aromasin Side Effects
Based on what I just mentioned, we’ve come up with the side effects of Aromatase Inhibitors including Aromasin (Exemestane). As I said, Femara (Letrozole) is too powerful so you could easily crush too much estrogen. This leads to low estrogen levels and side effects.
Estrogen is actually important for a male despite the common belief that it’s a female hormone. Men need it to function properly. Without enough estrogen, it could lead to reduced libido and depression including lots of other negative side effects. You should make sure to never cripple your estrogen, otherwise, you’re going to get low estrogen side effects from using too much Exemestane (or whatever other AI).Â
- Eliminating too much estrogen can have negative effects on your libido and mood, dry out your joints, and others. For example, estrogen is important for your cholesterol health, central nervous system as well as bone health and mineralization. They all have to suffer if there won’t be enough estrogen. Moreover, this is a hormone that helps you grow muscles and strength too!
The good news is that in bodybuilding and steroid use, Aromasin side effects are actually rare when administering the product in proper dosages. That’s because they need lower doses and shorter cycles than women need for treating cancer. Plus, males’ bodies are reacting differently than those of females to reduced estrogen levels.
In the end, the most common side effects are associated with low estrogen.
This means that you are using too high doses. Please, do not just use random dosages without checking how you react to each dosage and by taking into consideration the amount of aromatizing steroids you use during the cycle. It’s important to use some form of estrogenic protection during the anabolic steroid cycle!
How to Correctly Use?
In order to determine the best dosage and frequency of administration for you, you’ve got to take into consideration various factors. For example, there’s going to be much more estrogen increase at using 1,000 mg a week of testosterone in comparison to using only 200 mg a week of testosterone, for example.
Of course, the estrogen also increases if you stack multiple aromatizing (wet) anabolic steroids together (such as testosterone with nandrolone and/or methandienone). In such cases, you obviously need a higher dosage of Aromasin to lower estrogen more and keep it within the normal range.
But not only that. Your personal liability to convert into estrogen is playing a huge role too. For example, two different men are using 300 mg a week of testosterone. While one may need to use Aromasin every couple of days to control estrogen, the other doesn’t need to use any form of estrogen protection. That’s simply because of how their bodies react.
Therefore, as you can guess, you must find your own personal best dosage and frequency. Do not follow anyone’s cycle or plan.
Common Aromasin dosage is 12.5-25 mg (half a tablet up to one full tablet) from every other day up to about once a week. Listen to your body and check your estrogen levels. Make sure to keep estrogen in the normal range, not too much nor too low. If you get dry joints it means estrogen is too low, thus dosage too high. But if you get puffiness or sensitive nipples then it means estrogen is too high, and thus dosage is too low.
