Masteron (Drostanolone)

Masteron is an androgenic and anabolic steroid (AAS) coming in the form of injection. The active substance is Drostanolone. Masteron is the most famous brand but is sold under different brands too. There are 2 Masteron esters – Propionate and Enanthate. Both come as an injection. There is not an oral version of Masteron. There is Methyldrostanolone (Superdrol) which is an oral steroid but is extremely different from Drostanolone (Masteron).

• Masteron Propionate is the first version with a half life of 1-3 days. Exactly as with Testosterone Propionate, t must be used on a daily or at least every other day basis to maintain stable levels.
• Masteron Enanthate is a longer version with a half life of around 7-8 days. Exactly as with Testosterone Enanthate, it should be used twice per week. The total weekly dose is split into 2 halves.

Each comes with its own advantages and disadvantages. For example, Masteron Enanthate doesn’t need as many pins as Masteron Propionate does, which is an advantage. But Masteron Propionate offers faster results, plus it doesn’t have as long detection time as Masteron Enanthate. Then again, that’s another advantage.

In the end – that’s a matter of preference which one to choose. Usually, if you want 8 weeks cycle length or less – go for Masteron Propionate. If you plan on running it for longer – Masteron Enanthate.

Masteron in Bodybuilding

Masteron (Drostanolone) is a popular compound due to various reasons. However, the anabolic steroid should be used only in combination with other steroids.

• Drostanolone has a low anabolic to androgenic rating (62:25) making it ineffective for growing muscles. Nonetheless, you shouldn’t assume Masteron is weak and ineffective.

Masteron is known for its ability to harden up the muscles and offer a vascular and dry appearance. That’s why it is popular for cutting cycles.

But is often used in bulking cycles too. That’s because Drostanolone has Aromatase Inhibitor properties. This means that it would deal with estrogenic related issues like water retention and gyno.

In both cases, Masteron is effective because of its strong binding affinity to SHBG (Sex Hormone Binding Globulin). By working this way, it reduces SHBG and therefore enhances other steroids’ efficiency. Works like a booster of steroids (that’s why it always must be stacked) without increasing the negative side effects or dosage administered of other compounds.

So, Masteron is greatly effective in both cutting or bulking cycles.

Masteron Side Effects

Drostanolone (Masteron) is DHT derived so androgen related issues are possible to occur. Acne, hair loss, and aggression for men as well as virilizing issues for women are likely to occur.

Due to low androgenic numbers, these issues are far not as bad as with other steroids. Still – they are possible to occur. Especially in higher doses and/or prolonged uses.

Estrogenic side effects, of course, are not possible. Testosterone suppression though is something that may occur, exactly as with any other steroid. A PCT plan is still important for a man.

There may be other side effects too. But then again, unlikely to be as bad as with other steroids.

Masteron Dosage

Again, which ester of Drostanolone to use is up to you and your preference.

• In the end, as mentioned Propionate is mostly used for cycles of 8 weeks or shorter. Enanthate is mostly used for cycles of 10 weeks or longer.
• With both esters, Masteron dosage is between 400 mg and 1000 mg per week for most people.

Doses of 500-600 mg weekly are most common. Rarely does someone use more or less than 400-1000 mg per week.

Masteron Cycle examples:

Week 1-12: Testosterone Enanthate 500 mg per week with Masteron Enanthate 500 mg per week. Usually, people need bulking so they add Dianabol to this cycle. First 6 weeks 50 mg a day.

Week 1-8: Testosterone Propionate 50 mg a day with Masteron Propionate 75 mg a day. Usually, that’s a cutting cycle, and many people either don’t add anything or add Anavar or Winstrol around 50 mg a day.

PCT plan after each cycle. Liver protection the entire cycle (especially if an oral is added). Actual Aromatase Inhibitor (AI) handy just in case.
